The inaugural Climate Beacon Conference was held on October 10-11 at the New England Aquarium. Business leaders, experts, elected officials, and others convened to share ideas and proven strategies that will move us toward a more sustainable future. The conference featured an array of keynote speakers, including U.S. Senator Edward Markey, Former White House Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy, Former Governor Deval Patrick, and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu.
A Better City President & CEO Kate Dineen presented on our "Greening the Blue Line" initial findings as part of the Building More Resilient Communities session. This study, which will be released in the coming weeks, aims to investigate the potential to deploy nature-based solutions along the Blue Line corridor in East Boston to protect critical transportation infrastructure from coastal and stormwater flooding, to support ecosystem restoration, and to improve the health and vibrancy of marginalized communities and commercial districts.
