Do you ever wish you could get out into the city during your lunch hour to learn a little bit about Beantown and get some exercise while doing it? Our ABC TMA is excited to kick off this season’s Lunchtime Walking Series on August 9th, with a Lunch, Learn and Walk event at Atlantic Wharf, co-hosted by WalkBoston.
These hour-long tours are free to all employees of ABC TMA members and are set up to promote alternative transportation options and healthy lifestyles. Clearly, active commuting is good for the waist line, but did you know that it is also good for the environment? Each time you choose public transit, active commuting or car/vanpool over single occupancy vehicle travel you prevent air pollutants associated with C02 from being emitted into the atmosphere. Making smart commuting choices means you are taking steps to improve health, prevent air pollution and ease roadway congestion. Regular physical activity is also important for employee well-being, as it can decrease stress levels, reduce sick days, and increase productivity in the office. Furthermore, Boston has a plethora of fun and safe outdoor locations to explore that many people miss during their regular commute.
The walking tours will consist of groups of about 20 people for an hour (12pm-1pm) on Thursdays during this summer and fall. Each walk is in a different location of the city and led by a different tour expert. Locations for this season include the North End, Back Bay, Theater District, Beacon Hill, Downtown, and this year Allston Village to incorporate our newest TMA members. You can see pictures from last year’s walks on Facebook.
