Marissa Rivera joined A Better City in February 2020 as our TMA Operations Manager. In her role, Marissa oversees services and programming for three TMAs serving over 100 member organizations in neighborhoods across the city. With over ten years of experience in the public and nonprofit sectors, she brings a robust set of skills related to planning, delivering, and evaluating programming designed to engage and deliver value to community stakeholders.
Prior to joining A Better City, Marissa oversaw special service programs and partnership initiatives at Cradles to Crayons – Boston. During her tenure there, she deepened service partner relationships and strengthened program processes to achieve a 20% increase in service volume through one flagship initiative.
Earlier in her career, Marissa established and strengthened processes related to procurement contract documentation, small vendor invoicing, and development-related travel at Boston University. A returned Peace Corps volunteer, Marissa also served in China as a University English Teaching Volunteer where she taught regular classes and established a hiking group for her students.
Marissa holds an MBA in Public and Nonprofit Management with High Honors from Boston University’s Questrom School of Business as well as a BA in Comparative Literature with Distinction from The Colorado College. A longtime bike commuter, she is excited to collaborate with our member organizations to mobilize commuter networks in favor of sustainable transportation choices.
