Throughout the year ABC will host intensive half-day workshops on issues of sustainability and climate change.
Through presentations and discussions these workshops will lead participants through the process of creating a sustainable work site. Participants will learn first hand from local professionals and peers on how to move their organization or building down the path to sustainability—including topics on planning & design, energy management, procurement and general operations.
These workshops are designed for individuals in facilities, operations, property management, and others interested in creating a sustainable environment for their employees, tenants, and clients.
The United States Environmental Protection Agency reports that transportation sources accounted for approximately 40 percent of Massachusetts’ total Greenhouse Gas emissions in 2005. Transportation is the fastest-growing source of U.S. GHGs, accounting for 47 percent of the net increase in total U.S. emissions since 1990. Rising greenhouse gas emissions from motor vehicles pose a major challenge to the state’s ability to meet its goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions below 1990 levels.

Creating a sustainable work site takes more than providing little blue bins and turning off the lights at the end of the day. Employees and tenants are beginning to expect the businesses they work for and buildings they work in to do their part in addressing the issues of climate change and sustainability.
