Highlighted Project - Rose Kennedy Greenway
The Rose Kennedy Greenway creates abundant opportunities to enliven downtown Boston unify neighborhoods that were split apart by the elevated Central Artery highway. It is expected that the current design will evolve over time as other parks have in the city and that when completed, the Greenway will be the crown jewel of Boston and an important open space for generations to come. The building of the Greenway in place of the elevated Central Artery structure is a historic accomplishment.
Today ABC's Greenway Abutters Committee works closely with the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy and other interested parties in planning activities in the new open spaces. The group also monitors and evaluates plans for the open spaces and civic projects being developed. ABC is helping the Conservancy explore financial alternatives that will provide sufficient funds to maintain a high standard of quality and help to generate the level of activity required to make the Greenway a vibrant and inviting place.
