Committees

Broad St. Abutters/Crossroads Initiative Working Group

Co-Chairs: Kyle Warwick, Jones Lang LaSalle
                David Godbout, Ceres Realty Fund

Working with the Boston Redevelopment Authority and the Crossroads Initiative, the ABC has helped organize Broad Street abutters to help foster a partnering process between the Broad Street property owners and tenants and the City of Boston. This committee will help shape the conceptual design of future Broad Street streetscape improvements.

Greenway Abutters Committee

Co-chairs: Peter Shields, Equity Office Properties
                Bud Ris, New England Aquarium

This is a new committee that can trace its roots back to several former iterations, which in the past partnered on the design of the new Rose Kennedy Greenway.  This committee will work with the Turnpike Authority, the City of Boston and the Greenway Conservancy on a wide range of issues related to completion of the parks and their transition to public use. The committee will also discuss the on-going operations, maintenance and programming of the parks, the development of civic and cultural uses on Parcels 6, 12, 14 and 18, and the planning and implementation of short term and long term improvements on Parcels 19, 21, and 22.

Public Policy & Legislative Committee

Chair:  Larry DiCara, Nixon Peabody LLP

The Public Policy & Legislative Committee meets to review hot button legislative and regulatory issues, and also discusses political challenges specific to our areas of work.

Real Estate and Land Development Forum

Co-Chairs: James Aloisi, Goulston & Storrs
                 David Perry, Hines

The Real Estate and Land Development Forum meets quarterly to discuss the intersection of real estate development and infrastructure investment in Boston.

Silver Line Phase III Business and Institutional Committee

Chair:  James E. Rooney, Massachusetts Convention Center Authority

ABC established the Silver Line Phase III Business and Institutional Committee in 2005 to help move the Silver Line Phase III forward.  This committee brings together leading businesses and institutions throughout the project alignment and provides a forum for the sharing of information and building of consensus around critical project issues. This committee will help area businesses and institutions voice support for the project while working to mitigate potential harmful impacts from the construction or operation of the Silver Line.

Transportation and Construction Committee

Chair:  Nick Iselin, Intercontinental Real Estate Corporation

The committee has evolved from the ABC Transportation, Mitigation, and Management Committee.  It will continue to focus on outstanding issues concerning completion of the Central Artery/Tunnel Project, but will now expand to address traffic management and construction mitigation issues for other projects - such as the Storrow Drive Tunnel Replacement and the Longfellow Bridge.  We will also work with the ABC Silver Line Phase III committee and the Broad Street Crossroads Initiative abutters as those projects proceed through engineering toward construction.

Urban Ring Institutional and Business Committee

Co-Chairs:      Thomas Glynn, Partners HealthCare
Paul Levy, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center

This committee was created in 2005 to provide support for the Urban Ring circumferential transit concept.  The committee includes ABC members from medical, educational, and cultural institutions and the business community, and seeks improved public transportation in a fifteen mile long corridor ringing Greater Boston.   The committee is working with public officials to advance the project, and participates in technical, political, and funding initiatives that will lead to the successful completion of the project.  The committee meets approximately every other month.

Utility Relocation Committee

Chair:  Colby Rottler, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston

The Utility Relocation Committee is one of the original committees established by ABC. This committee brings together CA/T abutters and representatives of the private and public utilities to monitor the utility relocation plans and process.  Utility relocation was a critical early step in the Central Artery/Tunnel Project construction.  The committee has evaluated the relocation process, helped to prepare a precedent setting Maintenance of Utilities Plan and developed methods for implementation, and has helped to address a wide range of utility issues during the Artery construction process.  The committee will also provide a forum for communications among the utilities about the Crossroads Initiative and Silver Line Phase III. The committee has met bi-monthly for the past several years.
