Special Initiatives & Coalitions
Business Alliance for Northeast Mobility
The Business Alliance for Northeast Mobility is a coalition of more than 30 leading business and civic groups, established to promote improved transportation links in the Northeast megaregion — an interconnected network of metropolitan regions stretching from Portland, ME to Richmond, VA. The Alliance seeks to address the threat to future economic growth posed by the deterioration of aging infrastructure and worsening congestion.
Green Ribbon Commission
The Boston Green Ribbon Commission is a group of business, institutional, and civic leaders across Boston working in coordination with Mayor Menino’s Climate Action Plan to develop shared strategies for fighting climate change. The plan includes strong recommendations on how Bostonians can increase efficiencies, reduce emissions, and prepare for extreme weather and higher sea levels.
Our Transportation Future
Our Transportation Future is a diverse collaboration of organizations representing business, industry, planning, labor, municipal, and environmental interests working together for increased transportation investment in Massachusetts. To meet mobility needs, foster economic growth, create jobs, increase economic competitiveness, and sustain a healthy environment, Our Transportation Future advocates for an efficient, equitable and effective transportation system for the Commonwealth. The Coalition supports legislation, programs and policies to adequately fund the repair and maintenance of the Commonwealth's existing transportation system, as well as investment in strategic expansion and enhancement projects.
T5 Convention Partnership
T5 aims to increase Boston's share in the convention and meeting industry, both domestically and globally. The Convention Partnership is a working group designed to advise policy makers and steward the public study of the T5 initiative, which explored approaches to enhancing Boston's capacity to become a "Top 5" destination for conventions, meetings, and tradeshows. The study also examines the feasibility of expanding the facility, services, and amenities of the existing Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.
TransitWorks
A Better City is a founding and managing partner of TransitWorks, dedicated to maintaining and improving the quality of the MBTA. TransitWorks is a collaborative initiative connecting the business community, Greater Boston municipalities, transportation interests such as Transportation Management Associations (TMAs), and the MBTA riding public. We use empirical, objective research methods to collect rider feedback, then work with the MBTA to implement improvements based on our findings. Along with the ABC TMA and the MBTA Advisory Board, A Better City provides leadership, in-kind support, and strategic guidance for TransitWorks.
